Role Summary
- This job is a fixed-term placement with Natural Resources Wales (NRW).
- You will work on a marine project using fishing boat data from Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS).
- You will help map and analyse this data to support marine conservation in Wales.
- This is a good chance for recent postgraduates or PhD students in marine or fisheries science.
Key Tasks
- Analyse four years of fishing boat position data.
- Create maps to show fishing activity in the sea.
- Use software like R, FME, and GIS for data analysis.
- Work with marine specialists and share your findings.
Skills And Experience
- Postgraduate or PhD level in marine or fisheries science preferred.
- Good skills in data analysis and spatial mapping.
- Experience with R, FME (a data conversion tool), and GIS (Geographic Information System) is helpful.
- Able to work well with others and learn in a team.
